More Masterpiece Sketch Ideas

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Here is another layout using one of my favorite scrapbooking tools - Memory Mania Masterpieces!! This was a quick and easy layout! I used the sketch on pg. 86. I altered the first page to fit the orientation of my pictures. Sometimes it's nice to "Keep it Simple" so the pictures don't get lost in the layout. I think this sketch works well with that concept. It's "Just Enough." In masterpieces, your sure to find just the layout your looking for!! Pick up your copy today and get scrapin'!!

Cardmaking: Another Spin on Sketches

Okay, so are you tired of hearing me talk about sketches yet? I hope not because I only get this excited when I find something that truly works and sketches WORK!

Not only have I used them for my scrapbooking, but I have also started to incorporate them into my cardmaking. Now I get more use from my Masterpiece sketchbook.

This card was created using the left side of the sketch from page 39. I followed the sketch pretty much as it was. And don't you just love the look from the Fiskars Threading Water border punch? What a great way to use up all of those brads that you have accumulated over the years.

So what are you waiting for? Run on over and get your copy of Masterpieces today. And while you're there, don't forget to check into the Masterpiece Theater classes offered this fall during MMU. Hope to see you there!

Masterpieces - A Great Gift

Isn't it exciting to meet someone from another place who shares your passion for scrapbooking? This past spring in Texas I met a "baseball mom" just beginning her first baseball scrapbook for her college freshmen. She asked me if I scrapbooked??!! Needless to say, we didn't watch much of the game, instead we talked about making a college life/baseball scrapbook. Since my son was a senior and I was working on his final baseball book, I had a few tips for her! My first tip was for her to get Masterpieces and since I was drinking from my Memory Mania mug, the website was readily available, so she wrote it down to check out the book and website. So when you meet a fellow scrapbooker outside of our locale, don't forget to recommend Masterpieces, or better yet get them a copy! They are sure to be grateful.

This is one of my favorite layouts scraplifted from page 59 of Masterpieces - sweet and simple - just the way I like it!

Memory Mania Masterpieces - Sketch Ideas

Saturday July 19,2008

Wow! I can't say enough about Memory Mania Masterpieces! It is a must have tool. I was able to scrap my cruise vacation in one weekend!! Most of the layouts were created using sketches from Masterpieces. On this layout, I used the sketch on pg. 54. I used 4x6 photo's instead of cropping them to 3x3. I also had fun journaling around the edges of my circles for a different look. Don't be afraid to alter the sketches to fit your pictures / titles / embellishments, etc. This is the way to get more out of each sketch.

MORE SKETCHES

Good morning!!!!

MORE Sketches featured: This layout was created using sketch on page 63 in the MM Masterpiece Book; I reversed the pages because of the orientation of my title; Would love to feature YOUR pages using the sketches-just email to me & I'll load them on the blog!!!!

NEW AT MEMORY MANIA TODAY: If you already love the ribbon purses we've had, come in today to check out the SUPER HUGE ribbon purse-we actually found this by accident, but what a nice surprise.

Just What the Doctor Ordered

WOW-what a great scrappin' day yesterday-just what the doctor ordered-thank you ALLY!!!! I had pulled these photos out about 10 times & returned them to the protector 10 times; The problem was: I had too many photos, I couldn't think of the perfect title for this perfect day; I took out my handy, dandy MM Masterpieces Book & searched for sketches using 9 photos, but my title was using a postcard so it didn't work out just right so I flipped to the last couple of pages of sketches for a quick review of all sketches in the book & VOILA, the layout was completed in 30 minutes using the sketch on page 53. Note: I had more photos than embellishments so I was able to make the sketch work for me.

Black Magic Cardstock-have you heard about it? New in the store this week is "Black Magic" Don't be fooled by the black surface. With a little sanding, tearing or antiquing you can uncover the vivid core colors hidden beneath. Try it and you'll see why Magic is its name. Every sheet of acid/ligin free cardstock has a core color which "coredinates" with the surface color. PREMIUM, HEAVY WEIGHT, 80LB, CANVAS TEXTURED CARDSTOCK

MASTERPIECE BOOK SHARING

WOW-CCL was awesome!!!! We had the most awesome group of ladies this time. I truly believe it was the best CCL ever. The sharing, generosity & comraderie among the ladies was heartwarming. KUDOS to all campers, what a wonderful group of ladies to spend the weekend with. Lots of friendships formed, catching up with old friends, LOTS OF LAUGHING and knock knock jokes!!!! WOW-i could write a book, it was GREAT!!!!! Thanks again to my wonderful MM Team that really outdid themselves, awesome setup, manning the store, checking in & helping the entire weekend run so smoothly!!!! YEAH MM TEam!!!

OK, the reason for my post this morning was, several people came up to me during CCL and said they only wished that someone had told them about the MM Masterpieces book years ago. They shared how many more layouts they are able to create in shorter amounts of time. Several still told me they have had the book for one year and still use it every time they crop. WOW-those comments go straight to my heart because that is exactly what my goal was in creating the book. I wanted you to have a TOOL, not just a book-something that would continually inspire you & help you share your memories in a short amount of time so you could go off & create more memories!!!!!! SO, here's what we'd like for you to do, share your Masterpiece book with your friends & neighbors AND when they come to Memory Mania to purchase the Masterpiece book, give us your name & for each book you have recommended, you will receive a $5 store credit-WOW, how easily could you get to $50, just sharing some good news!!!!! So join us in spreading the word about this awesome tool AND you get something back too!!!!! Don't forget to tell your friend you get a credit for their purchase so that they remember to let us know!!!!!!! Also, i'd love for you to share your comments in this post too, what do you like most about the Masterspieces book? Have a wonderful week-I'm off to my crop date with my favorite buddies today!!!!!

Disney and Masterpieces Idea Book

Hey, Ladies! How many of you have tons of Disney photos waiting to be scrapbooked? ME!! (and sadly, mine are from our trip in 1999) If that is the case, take an easy way to get those layouts done.

I purchased the Sandylion paper line along with a few coordinating embellishments. I then took my Masterpiece sketch book and found a few layouts that would be good to use with a lot of photos. In the layout shown,(pg.16-17) I flipped the whole sketch bottom over top, to match the orientation of the photos I wanted to use.
This also gave me a place to hang a cool title that I cut with my Cricut machine and the George font that came with it. I backed the back of the letters with tacky tape and then filled the insides with glitter. If you like this technique, we will be doing something similar in my MMU class titled "Family Matters" this fall.
By using prepared sketches and keeping it simple with one paper line, I hope to be completing my album this weekend. And isn't it about time?

Happy Independence Day!!!!! Enjoy this day with a family/friends, what will you do today?? BBQ, Swim, or how many of you still celebrate with hotdogs, apple pie & fireworks??? I don't know why, but for me 4th of July means we have to have a strawberry dessert so I'm letting my strawberry mixture cool while I post, yummy, can't wait to dig in to this Strawberry Trifle, OK, i guess we have to eat BBQ first. he he

Have you been to the gallery yet to check out the awesome masters kit club layouts!!!!! Here is one to get your scrappin' weekend going; We'll start with our newest design team member, Traci Furlow-The Queen of Bling. Check out Traci's layout, Beach Bums, Traci used the Sonburn paper to highlight her beautiful girls at the beach. Traci handcut the swirls from the paper and added some bling; I love the way she edged the circle with Bums with the Doodlebug ribbon. I also like those Bazzill Brackets highlighting her title. Great job Traci!!!!! Be sure to flag these girls down at CCL, they will have some of their past layouts in an album for your review!!!
