Scraplift x2 & Dinner

WOW-I just love this fall colors of Bo Bunny Olivia Collection

Grandmas never run out of hugs & cookies created by Jody Sorey
I love the simple sketch using 5 photos and the pictures really pop-some special GRANDMA moments for these grandkids to cherish forever!! I love the brown trim tied in with stickers & paper! Great job with the photos & layout JODY!!!

Simply Beautiful created by Heather Banker
Heather added a Moxxie die cut as her focal photo mat & accented the other photos with swirls from the sticker sheet. My favorite thing is the photos, of course, Heather does such an awesome job, but I especially LOVE the one she highlighted with the Fancy Pants Metal Embellishment!!!! (bottom left is photo inside metal embellishment). Great job Heather!!!

OK, for everyone that was SOO disappointed about not having the Calendar Class in MMU, Jori made extra Calendar Kits for you to purchase as a kit!! Come in & take a closer look-its awesome!!! Calendar & all materials included for $75 (that's cheaper than previous years so stop in quickly-there are 5 kits up for grabs).

What's for dinner?? Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie . . .
Seems the way our menu is going this week-not intended LOL.

Dane's Easy Crawfish Pie Recipe

1 Frozen pie shell or (i used tart shells since we are empty nesters LOL)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pound of crawfish (Louisiana, of course)
1 stick of margarine/butter
1 onion
2 garlic pods
a bunch of green onions
seasonings to taste (Tony's, Black Pepper)

Put on some really good jitterbug music: Melt butter in saucepan, saute onions, garlic & green onion bottoms (add 1/4 cap of Crawfish Boil). Add mushroom soup & crawfish & simmer about 10 minutes (adding 1/4 cap crawfish boil). Garnish with green onion tops & pour into pie shells. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

Note to self: Calming sway to the music so that all crawfish pies make it to the oven AND NOT THE FLOOR-yep, it happened, as i was swaying to the oven with my baking stone-3 pies flew to the floor, buts "It's Alright, Have a Good Time, cause it's alright"!!!! Good thing I only had 2 mouths to feed last night.

Another fast & easy recipe so you will have some time to scraplift the above layouts.

2fer Tuesday: Flocked and invisible papers

Monday Masterpieces

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!!! I hope you were able to spend valuable time with your family & friends, took lots of pics & filled your bellies with delicious family dishes!!

Its Monday-so take our your Masterpiece Books, turn to page 84 & give this a try:

Family Pedi created by Heather Banker

Page 84, Heather flipped the sketch. She altered the chipboard by inking, blending, painting and by appling paper pieces, adding brads and white ink pen dashes. Then she painted crackle paint over the letters and the brackets. On the numbers for the date, she added distress stickles and then added dimensional magic.
LOVIN that fringe trim-great job Heather and thanks for sharing!!

SOOO, now you know what time it is--time to prepare for Christmas holidays. Do you create keep Christmas Scrapbooks? Its one of the albums I'm pretty successful at keeping up to date (by up to date, i mean getting last year Christmas pics scrapbooked before setting out my Christmas Album this year when I decorate house). If you are like me & not able to scrap as much as you would like, I enjoy keeping the Christmas album because it generally includes everyone in my family & I feel sorta caught-up (even though that word is banned from scrapbooking), because it includes everyone & every year. I can't tell you how much my family enjoys looking at the past years of Christmas-its actually become a tradition--once the halls are decked, we all sit down & look at the scrapbooks.

Happy Thanksgiving

It's time for that yearly holiday question...What are you THANKFUL for? At Memory Mania, we are thankful for YOU. Now, that may sound corny, but it is OH SO true! We never take for granted that YOU ARE Memory Mania. With the economy at an all-time low and with many local businesses having to close, we are fighting tooth and nail to make sure you still have a local scrapbook store to call your own. So, yes, we are thankful for YOU...for still coming in for our awesome classes, for renewing your memberships in our fabulous kit clubs, for reading our blog and being our Facebook friends, and for continuing to come in to shop and visit and share your hobby with us. We realize that, without you, there would be no Memory Mania. We are so thankful for YOU!

P.S. Don't forget to take LOTS of photos of your family & friends-these are truly times to be cherished!!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Designed Just 4 You

This is one of my favorite of Deneen's Classes:

Designed Just 4 You
Tuesday, Nov 30th 6-8pm

This is 1 of 2 layouts-you can choose the title Blessings, Family, etc or you can use as is.
The 2nd layout is designed around your photos-you email your photo & she pulls products & uses your photos as embellishments (black & white photos preferred). How cool is that? I just love looking around at end of class to see how different & cool all of the layouts are!!! There are a couple spots left-call to register 225-744-CROP

I thought I would plan a nice candlelight dinner for John last night. Its just been one of those months where I've been so crazy & focused on everyone else so I wanted last night to be about HIM. I had so much work to do, but I was determined --it would have to be something easy, but wonderful. At 5pm, he calls to tell me he has a school board committee meeting-URGHHH (I hate eating at 8pm), breathe, OK, that just gives me a little more time. I'm about to start my homemade BBQ Shrimp recipe i shared with you a few weeks ago AND I FIND this little packet above in my pantry-WELL-erase recipe i sent earlier-this takes like 2 minutes of prep-and it is delicious. You melt butter in a saucepan, add a little water & this packet, saute for 5 min & pour over shrimp in a baking dish & bake at 375 for 18 minutes. Be sure not to leave too long in oven or they are hard to peel.

So about 8, candles are lit, my cool new fleur de lis china plates are adorned with BBQ shrimp, garlic bread & vegetables--everything is just PERFECT. In walks the love of my life with a big hug & kiss and URCH-he flips on all of the lights-how romantic was that. I just giggled to myself-i guess its been too long since i tried the candlelight dinner thing-he didn't realize it. Ha ha, I guess we're too old to peel shrimp in the dark anyway. I thought I'd share the recipe-its SUPER Fast so you can find more time to scrap.

New SMOOCH colors

Want to add stitching to your layout. You don't have to drag the machine out-its SEW EASY. The rotary stitch piercer creates perfectly aligned holes that can be stitched up or left like that.

MONDAY MASTERPIECES & Thankful ful . . .

Happy Monday to all!!!! I hope you had a fantastic weekend & are ready for an even better week for the Thanksgiving!!! WOW-we have so much to be thankful for!!! I'm so thankful for my many blessings: 1) the unconditional love of a really good man & love of my life. 2) the chance to me a mom to 2 boys that I love with all of my heart-they've given us just the right balance of frustration & JOY lol!! and 3) the love and support of many family & friends. What are you thankful for?

Monday Masterpieces - Sketch Page 46

Sassitude designed by Jori Arceneaux

WOW-KUDOS to Jori for this very creative layout!!!! Jori used some Basic Grey papers & complimented with some blossoms ribbon. Jori used glimmer glaze on the blossoms & Studio Calico Rub-on buttons. There is no need for a paint brush because the glaze comes with it's own applicator. The Applicator is like a nail polish brush and Jori lightly brushed the glaze over the flowers and lime green trim. She also painted a small scrap sheet of cardstock and once it was dry, put the rub ons over it and then cut them out and brushed it on top of the title
Great job Jori and thanks for the tips!!

Round 4 FINALISTS

WOW-the judges had a really tough time with this round, there were so many entries!!!!
These 7 layout design were chosen for Round 4 based on their techniques used & alterations.
I learned so much again-pulling my sketch book & I STILL love the layouts in the book & wow-getting a few more to add to my library was awesome!!!!! So pull out your masterpiece & compare these layouts to see how you will have a new sketch.

Super Bubbles created by Darlene Quebedeaux
Sketch 86Altered: Moved title to surround circle on left side…did subtitle on right bottom circle. Moved vertical grouping to left page. Moved square grouping to right page. Moved “block of strips” to bottom left corner of right page. Added additional circles/semicircles.

Soccer created by Audrey Wascome
Sketch #86. Turned circle on left into a soccer ball and cut pictures to fit in the shapes of the ball. Used 4 pictures on the left side one 8x8 picture & 6 pictures on left, but cut to the same dimensions. For the top right circle she cut a soccer ball out of one of the photographs & used a photograph cut to size to fit inside of another circle on the lower right side with journaling.
Paper: Soccer Field" by reminisce, "SportsHeadOn" paper by Scrappin' Sports and More.
Ribbon: Soccer ribbon at store & Cricut "Varsity" cartridge; Dimensional Magic to make an epoxy sticker. I accented everything in the lime Cat eye. I

Disney created by Jennifer Marino
Sketch 87: altered photo sizes

Chunky Monkey created by Jeanna Barron
Sketch 92: Used 6 photos instead of 12 pictures & used other space to put a letter that was part of my title. I also covered chipboard letters to spell the word "Chunky".

Raindrops created by Audrey Wascome
Sketch 92: Used six photos instead of twelve, but they fit the same dimensions except for the one on the left. I made it a little larger so it looked like it was "falling" with the letters. My journaling is on the umbrella. For the Lush letter, I used the rub-ons by Studio Calico in the brown patterns and the used the Cat eyes in surf on the edge. Then I sealed all of the letters in Dimensional Magic to give it that epoxy look.
Paper: "Cats and Dogs" by Pebbles, including the flags on the sides (I cut out the different dog bones to make the flags). Letters: Thickers, Lush chipboard, Studio Calico.

La Tech created by Darlene Quebedeaux
Sketch 92: Used a flip up page & put the collages/groupings on the outside of the flip pages.
Flip it open for 2 groupings of 3x3 pics plus added other pics with the extra room. Title is repeated along the bottom as in the original sketch. Tickets from the game & ribbon were used for the pulls to open the flips. The papers came from the school section for Parkview Baptist since they were perfect colors for La Tech. Note to others: don’t be scared to pull papers from another section just because it’s grouped in a certain theme. Also by using the flip up pages & the collages, 28 pictures used on this layout.

Baby Alexander created by Francis Cole
Sketches: 86, 87 & 92
Used the right side sketch of 86 incorporated into Sketch of 92 circle & collage of Sketch 87.

WOW-are you super impressed & motivated???? I know I am-too bad I have to finalize the MMU curriculum today, weather is just right & I'm in the mood to scrap!!!!

KUDOS to all of the entries for all 4 rounds-the judges certainly had their work cut out for them.

All finalists please submit these original layouts to the store by Friday of this week for display within the store.

There will be a final round for all finalists from Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4. Finalists will be emailed the details by Wednesday.
