Photo Calendars make great gifts . . .

Give a SPECIAL gift and have fun creating it too!!! AND I've already done all of the hard part, you just come & have fun putting it all together.

These calendars are great gifts for grandparents, moms, dads, friends, husbands for the office, a mom for her baby's first year, a couples first year of marriage, etc. I like to put photos of the family members with birthdays of that month (i.e., January is Ben, Elaina & Julie) & pass around the calendar at Christmas getting everyone to sign their name on their birthdays. AND the really cool part is, after you complete the pages, you can take them to Office Depot to color copy them for duplicate calendars for additional family members. A great tip is copy the pages without photos & use original photos or change up photos if you are giving to opposite sides of the family.

Don't miss out. This will be the LAST CALENDAR CLASS at Memory Mania. So sorry ladies, these calendars have been discontinued so this year will be the last year for Memory Mania Calendar Class.

Saturday, December 5, 2009
10am-noon
Cost is $20 (call to pre-register 225-744-2767)
Additional kit required on class day $34.99
Class & kit includes calendar & all supplies to complete entire calendar.
Depending on time, we normally create January-June in class & July-December can be completed at home.

Don't forget to watch scrapbooking on EATEL TV Channel 4 tonight at 6:30pm .

Photography Challenge

OK, so its ALMOST Christmas time, the time we take hundreds of photos so try out a few new things now BEFORE the holidays.

Awesome instruction by Karen Russell

Photo homework of Tiffany Kendrick
Don't get discouraged, Tiffany took 65 shots & this is the ONE awesome pic she got-I LOVE IT!!!!

Challenge:
Set your ISO to as high as possible, 1600 or 3200
MOVE THAT DIAL away from auto & into Aperature Priority (AV on Canon)
Set the most narrow aperature your lens will allow (a high f-stop number)

You may want to practice on stuffed animals spaced apart before tormenting your human subjects LOL. If you're like me, i still plan to have a professional take pics of my kids-but for those everyday, around the house pics, i want to do better.

Email me your photos tammy@eatel.net along with the details ISO, Fstop & time of day & setting (hallway or outdoors etc) & be entered for a free CROP drawing. (Note, you didn't have to be in class to try this or enter)

Cards for the Military

The Military makes them MILITARY Strong …………
One Army wife is working hard to try to be sure that every soldier gets a card. She wants them to be Christmas Card STRONG!

I hope you will consider helping out . . . Here are our cards we will be sending!!

Here is her request:

The holidays are often a difficult times for those the US Military whom are deployed, and often there will be times that some of our Men & Women receive nothing for the holidays. And NO ONE should ever be without at anytime, however, especially Christmas. The Goal for “True Operation Christmas Card for US Troops,” is to try to get a Greeting card for each service member serving during Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. So send us your Christmas Card, Hanukkah, Kwanza "Merry Chrismukkah!" Advent, Chanukah, St. Lucia Day, Las Posadas, Winter Solstice, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Yule, Boxing Day, St. Stephen's Day, Kwanzaa, Mummering, Twelve Days of Christmas & Holy Innocents Day Cards, in other words we will send any type of Greeting Card you want us to send!

All FAITHS are welcome! Help us make the Holidays Merry & Bright for as many men and women in ACU’s as possible! Often times kind words from strangers are the very motivation that they need to stay focused in their mission of defending this country. We would like to ensure that by giving them a simple holiday card or any other token of appreciation you would like to include. Soldiers love getting mail, they love knowing that their country and its citizens support them through every mission while deployed. So here is our GOAL………………40,000 cards, would that not just be the greatest feeling in the world to be able to send our troops 40,000 cards? So we are like our own little Military here, we are on a mission, a mission to secure 40,000 Greeting Cards and send them to the soldiers to show our love, gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices they make for all of us!

We have 40,000 Soldiers, Airmen, Marines & Seamen to send cards to, so lets get BUSY!

Below you will find a list of simple instructions.

And once again, thank you all, from the heart of a soldier’s wife, it makes my heart so full of pride to know that people out there care and want to show their support for our soldiers!

Thanks Again,
Rochelle Fetterley “JUST AN ARMY WIFE”

So this is what you need to do:

1) Clean out those attics, basements & gift wrap containers, get those old Greeting Cards from years gone by. Make them by hand, recycle cards, we are not picky we just want your CARDS!
a. Sit down and sign the cards, place them in the envelope.
b. Include a way to contact you, so the soldiers can say THANKS!
c. If you want include a snapshot of you & your family.
d. Only address the outside of the envelope if the Chaplains need to get them to a soldier of a different Faith (i.e. Hanukkah, Kwanza, Merry Chrismukkah)

2) Your envelope NEEDS NO POSTAGE!

3) We welcome any and all gifts or donations for this great Cause, so if there is anything else you would like to include, please feel free to do so. Well most anything……Don’t want any snakes, bugs, critters, you get the idea….LOL

4) Collect as many Greeting Cards as you can from Churches, Nursing Homes, Preschools, Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, Girl Scout Troops, Boy Scout Troops, Sunday School Classes….ASK EVERYONE YOU KNOW! ASK ALL of YOUR FACEBOOK FRIENDS, have them ask all of their friends. If each person sends 2 cards, just think we may surpass our goal, the more cards the better! HOOAH!

5) Send them to Rochelle Fetterley in Duncan Oklahoma, and with the help of some wonderful women known WORLD WIDE as Blue Star Moms of America, we will get them boxed up and shipped to the Chaplains overseas so they can distribute to the soldiers of Operation Enduring Freedom & Iraqi Freedom. Remember to collect until you have a full flat rate package, then send them onto Oklahoma.

6) Deadline is November 30, 2009, I must have them in Oklahoma by that date.

7) Address:
Rochelle Fetterley
TRUE OPERATION CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR US TROOPS
2106 N Country Club Road
Duncan OK 73533

Thanksgiving Table Decor . . .

Another item to add to your Thanksgiving table decor ideas. What did you think of the candle last week? Check out these cute place cards using stamps & cardstock created by Mallory!!!!! Mallory created a little box from cardstock for the children's place card-how cute to include some little sweets or peanut or pretzels for the little ones. The complete table setting is displayed at the store.

Supplies for Place Card:

Wide ribbon

Orange/Gold Cardstock

Brown cardstock

Green cardstock

Leaf foam stamp

Brown ink

Queen & Co. Pearls

Glue dots

Adhesive

Start by cutting brown cardstock to 4”x6” and folding it in half. Cut the green cardstock to 2 ½ “ x 3 ½ “ and adhere to one side of brown cardstock. Next, cut ribbon to 4” and glue down in the center on top of the green cardstock (use glue dots to glue down the ribbon). Stamp one set if leaves onto cardstock. Cut it out with scissors making sure to cut between each leaf. Fold individual leaves up and under to make them appear more realistic. Glue down the leaves in the bottom left corner using a glue dot. Type up and print out the names of your guests, cut them down to size, and add pearls where needed on top of the names.

WOW-she really is all that . . .

Showing Karen Russell "The City" !!! She fell in love with New Orleans !!! AND we had such a great time walking around & getting to know her-course Christy has been blog stalking her for 3 years so she always answered the questions we asked Karen LOL.

AND the class, yep, she's all that. My brain was mush after hearing all of the wonderful things she taught us in class. I just love the "everyday, story pictures that she takes". Its kinda hard when your subjects are OLDER & hate the camera, but wow, i really need to try some of this stuff before i forgot. It was an awesome class!!!! I think i've graduated from "Power on & lens cap off, so i'm ready to move that dial from auto & try some AV picture taking . . . so where do i start, just kidding.

Thanks to everyone that came to class - you were an awesome group!!!

AND special thanks to everyone for "saving the earth" the Go Green Bag Sale was awesome. We still have some bags left for anyone that wants to save 10% each time they shop & use it. We can all do our part to make a better life for our grandchildren.

Thanksgiving Table Decorations

So have you switched gears yet to start thinking about Thanksgiving?? Stay tuned each week, Mallory has created some beautiful projects to inspire you. KUDOS Mal.

Decorative Candle:

Wide ribbon
Orange/Gold Cardstock
Leaf foam stamp
Brown ink
4 different sized buttons
Queen & Co. Pearls
Glue Dots (any other glue may fail to hold when ribbon is wrapped around the candle)

Start by stamping leaves onto cardstock. Cut leaves out with scissors making sure to cut between each leaf. Fold individual leaves up and under to make them appear more realistic. Glue each stem down in a cluster toward the bottom of the ribbon using glue dots (make sure to glue down toward the middle of your piece of ribbon). Place and glue buttons on top of stems in any arrangement you want (they can overlap, be on top of one another, etc.). Next, place pearls in the middle of the buttons covering up the button holes. Finally, glue down one side of the ribbon in back of the candle, wrap ribbon around, cut off excess, and glue down the other side of the ribbon (overlapping the already glued ribbon).
